PANJIM: A 29-year-old person was arrested on Thursday for allegedly possessing drugs valued at Rs 4.85 lakh. In the raid carried out by Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC), Valy D’Costa from Shirvai, Quepem was found in possession of 1.5 kg of suspected charas, 1.1 kg of suspected ganja at Cortalim-Madkai ferry ramp. ANC said he was arrested and the illegal contraband was seized. In addition to this, a car, two mobile phones and Rs 2000 cash was also attached.
Police sources said the accused is a history-sheeter with offences registered against him at Quepem Police Station and was previously arrested for dacoity, robbery and assault cases. He is also alleged to be an accomplice of Michael Fernandes in dacoity cases.
In the present narcotics case against him, the Vasco JMFC has remanded him in police custody for four days.
