VASCO: Mormugao Police arrested one youth for stealing two smart phones worth Rs 35,000, on Saturday.
The police managed to recover both the stolen smart phones from the arrested person. Mormugao Police Station Police Sub-Inspector Sajan Pillai informed the reporters that on Friday one person filed a complaint stating that his and roommate’s smart phones have been stolen. Both of the persons had kept their smart phones for charging but when they woke up early morning they noticed that their smart phones had been stolen.
PSI Pillai said that the complainant then checked the main door which was found broken. The police then received an intel that one youth had approached someone to sell the smart phones at Sada area. A team of police rushed to the Sada market area and after seeing us the youth got nervous and tried to escape from the spot. The police then nabbed him and brought to Mormugao Police Station and during interrogation, the youth confessed that he had stolen the smart phones.
PSI Pillai informed that the arrested person’s name is Jahid Khan, aged 27 years, resident of Upper Jetty and a native of Madhya Pradesh. He was staying with the complainant a few months back and was later removed from the room due to some quarrel under the influence of alcohol.
The police have recovered both smart phones, one costing around Rs 15,000 and another Rs 10,000. Offence under Section 457, 379 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
