PERNEM: Pernem Police have arrested one Sankesh Chodankar, resident of Chorao, Tiswadi for committing theft of a fishing boat motor from Keri, Pernem.
According to Pernem Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, on July 10, Rohan Pednekar resident of Dhaktebag Keri complained that a motor fitted to a fishing boat had been stolen.
The police immediately registered an offence and took up the investigation and formed various teams. Police got the CCTV footage and the accused person was traced and placed under arrest, on Tuesday.
Police also managed to recover the stolen motor worth Rs 1.8 lakh besides another motor worth Rs 1.2 lakh during the house search of the accused person. A total goods worth of Rs 3 lakh was recovered.
Accused is being further interrogated to find out from where the second recovered motor is stolen.
