CALANGUTE: Calangute Police on Monday arrested one Yogesh Govekar, aged 39 years, taxi owner, who was allegedly involved in the assault case of GoaMiles taxi drivers. Govekar was later released on bail.
Govekar, member of Executive Committee of North Goa Taxi Association and resident of Anjuna was placed under arrest by Calangute Police in alleged assault case of two GoaMiles drivers and damaging the vehicle on February 4, night at Gaurawaddo, Calangute. The alleged accused was subsequently released on bail with one surety amounting to Rs 10,000.
Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo informed that the interrogation of the accused person will continue further and more arrests are likely to be made in connection to the alleged assault case.
It may be recalled that the Calangute Police had initially booked Govekar and six other taxi owners/drivers for allegedly assaulting the GoaMiles taxi drivers using hockey sticks and bats in two separate incidents on February 4, midnight.
