Having arrested a 21-year-old resident of Indra Nagar-Chimbel, the Old Goa Police seems to have made a breakthrough in the murder case of Amitabh Borkar, who was found murdered at an isolated place in Merces on February 2.
Old Goa Police has arrested Hyder Ali Badekar in connection with the murder case of Borkar (19) of Kirlawada-Chimbel.
According to Old Goa PI Francis Corte, Hyder was arrested by the Old Goa Police late Saturday night from his residence, after Old Goa Police came to a conclusion that Hyder was the last person who had taken Borkar along with him before committing the murder.
“Hyder has confessed to committing the crime and the reason behind committing the murder was previous enemity between him and Borkar, where the deceased had earlier slapped Hyder at Panjim bus stand over an issue. Hyder was waiting to take revenge of it,” informed PI Corte.
Over 50 people, which included family members, relatives and friends of Borkar were interrogated and even Hyder was questioned twice over the matter. During the course of investigation, the Old Goa Police had detained a 19-year-old boy from Chimbel on suspicion.
Hyder has been remanded for 14 days police custody for further investigation.Incidentally, according to the police, Hyder is the brother of Asif Ali Badekar, who is one of the co-accused in the attack case on Adv Aires Rodrigues.
