One killed, another injured in LPG cylinder blast at Anjuna

The tragedy occurred at around 7:15 pm when the stall owner Reshma Uskaikar was performing Laxmi poojan.

MAPUSA: One person was killed and another injured after a LPG cylinder exploded at Anjuna on Monday evening.

The tragedy occurred at a tea stall near the flea market at Peddem Piquen, Anjuna at around 7:15 pm when the stall owner Reshma Uskaikar was performing Laxmi poojan. The police gave the name of the victim as Denson D’Souza, 40 while Uskaikar was injured and she had been admitted to the hospital. Due to explosion the stall caught fire.

On receiving information, the Mapusa fire personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Both the injured were rushed to the District Hospital, Mapusa in 108 ambulance but doctors declared D’Souza brought dead.  

The Anjuna Police conducted the panchanama and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Further investigations are on.
