PORVORIM: Monday night – a tragic incident unfolded as a speeding jeep collided with a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of one rider and injuries to the pillion. The accident occurred at around 11.15 pm on Monday near the Damian de Goa showroom on national highway 66, leaving the victims in critical condition.
The deceased has been identified as Surojit Kohley, a 28-year-old native of West Bengal who was currently residing in Sangolda. The injured passenger has been identified as Ashok Bosu. The collision was caused by the reckless driving of Harshit Tamrakar, a 21-year-old resident of Alto-Torda, Porvorim, originally from Chhattisgarh. Tamrakar was reportedly driving his jeep in a rash and negligent manner while traveling from Mapusa to Panjim and dragged the victim for a few metres till people started shouting, urging him to stop.
Both Kohley and Bosu were rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) in Bambolim immediately after the accident. Tragically, Kohley succumbed to his severe injuries while undergoing medical treatment.
