It may be recalled that on August 17, the trio – Santan Correia, Nazeer Ahmed and Tayabali Syed, all residents of New Vaddem, Vasco were allegedly assaulted by a gang of 20 people outside the Vasco police station. After attacking the trio, the accused fled from the site.

Since then, Vasco police had launched an massive hunt to nab the accused, however, the police managed to arrest only one person.

According to Vasco police, of the 20 accused, Hitesh Singh (21), a resident of Birla-Zuarinagar was arrested on Tuesday.

Vasco police said, “In his complaint, Santan Correia had named only 8 people, while the others were booked as unknown persons. Based on the information provided by Corriea, our team managed to nab Hitesh Singh from Birla Zuarinagar. The complainant has identified Hitesh as one of the accused involved in the case”.

After his arrest, Hitesh Singh was produced before Vasco JMFC on Wednesday, which remanded him to five days police custody. Efforts are on to trace other accused persons.
