CURCHOREM: Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar stated that one physical education teacher will be sanctioned for every 90 students in primary schools in the State.
He was speaking at a function organized by Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at SAG ground, Curchorem, on Monday.
Speaking further, Tawadkar said the development work of 60 new playgrounds for the schools will be completed by May end.
“Good grounds will be provided to every school within next 5 years with all the necessary facilities, particularly at primary level,” he added.
He further informed that the work of the ground of international standard to hold Lusofonia games in Goa costing Rs 240 crore has been already started.
On the occasion, full sports kits were distributed to 104 primary schools, 19 high schools and four higher secondary schools from Quepem taluka.
Tawadkar distributed the kits in the presence of GTDC Chairman and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Patricia Fernandes, SAG Director V M Prabhudessai, SAG Deputy Director Juliana Gurjao e Colaco, Quepem ADEI Y B Valaulikar, councillors, panchas and heads of all the schools from the taluka.
Later, Tawaldkar visited the gymnasium and the site where the swimming pool is to be constructed.
