MARGAO: The list of senior leaders appointed to take the charge of responsibilities clearly indicates the intentions of All India Congress Committee that tickets will be offered to new faces for the upcoming Assembly elections in the State.
“The ‘One Position One Post’ is the right policy adopted by the high command which is perfect to bring Congress back to power,” stated newly inducted Congress leader and former minister Mickky Pacheco. Speaking to the media persons at Betalbhatim, Mickky said, “The decision of high command clearly indicates that at least this time the young leaders of Congress will get a chance to contest the elections. Senior leaders have been given the positions, and now they have to do their responsibilities in order to bring Congress back to power through re-building the party base.”
Reacting to Alexio Sequeira being appointed as working president, Mickky said that it is like giving arbitrary responsibilities to the retired judge.
He further said that this was not the right time to replace Girish Chodankar, as the elections are nearing. “Girish has a clear image, and he doesn’t have any corruption charges levelled against him like others. Hence, he can go to all the constituencies and ask for the votes,” explained the former minister.
He again made his stand clear about contesting the upcoming elections from the Benaulim Constituency.
