One remanded for murder

MARGAO: JMFC Margao remanded a Jharkhand native to four days police custody in an alleged murder case, on Monday. 

According to the Maina Curtorim Police, a Jharkhand native Vivek Dev Singh, aged 43 years, who is a labourer, allegedly murdered another labourer by assaulting him with an axe resulting in head injuries causing death. The incident happened in a rented room of a house at Colleadongor, Raia. 

The police informed that the house owner of the rented room lodged a complaint stating that the alleged accused person namely Vivek Dev in a quarrel over a petty issue 

assaulted the labourer of the complainant namely Mukesh Singh, age 30 years, with an axe leading to head injuries which resulted into his death at the spot. 

The police had booked an offence under Section 302 of IPC and during the course of investigation alleged accused Vivek Dev was apprehended near Raia Church and placed under arrest on Monday. Later, he was produced before JMFC Margao.
