MARGAO: The Judicial Magistrate First Class Margao on Friday remanded, one Sharif Shaikh (45), uncle of a victim girl, whom he had stabbed with a knife at Navelim causing serious injuries, to three days police custody.
He had surrendered before the Margao police after the incident.
Police said that after visiting the place of incident, statements have been recorded and recovered the knife used by the accused.
According to police sources, the reason for stabbing the niece is not known yet. However, investigation to know the motive behind the incident is going on.
Sharif, who is an alcoholic, in the drunken state visited the house of his niece, on Thursday afternoon. He entered into an argument with her and later in the fit of anger removed a knife and stabbed her causing serious injuries.
