BELGAUM: The eve-teasing incident aboard a Goa-Belgaum bound train has raised questions on the security of women passengers.
According to reports, a woman was travelling from Goa to Belgaum along with her child and her husband in the train when a group of persons started eve-teasing her since the time the train left Goa on Saturday. Efforts by her husband and others to stop them from eve-teasing failed and the accused started fighting with the family and with those who tried to intervene.
Sources informed that the eve-teasing continued till Khanapur station. Moreover, the family was helpless as mobile phones remained out of coverage area till the train reached Khanapur.
Irked by their indecency, the woman informed her relatives in Belgaum who along with some social activists and police officials were waiting for the train to arrive at Belgaum station.
However, the moment the train arrived at Belgaum railway station at about 8 pm, the accused managed to flee in the dark. However, the crowd managed to catch one person from the gang and gave him a sound thrashing before handing him over to the police.
