Ongoing Sewerage System Works in Kamarkhazan Affecting Well Water Levels

Mapusa: Residents of Kamarkhazan in Mapusa are grappling with a severe water shortage issue, primarily stemming from the ongoing sewerage system works in the area. As the construction of sewerage pipelines and pumping stations advances, many households have noticed a decline in water levels in their wells. The sewerage projects are essential for the long-term improvement of the region’s sanitation and hygiene, but they have inadvertently led to reduced well water levels.

In response to the situation, residents of Kamarkhazan met with Aldona MLA on Thursday to discuss the suspension of sewage treatment, demonstrating their concerns with signs. During the meeting, the MLA expressed his commitment to addressing the issue and, if necessary, pursuing legal action.

The residents’ plea for a solution is a reflection of the challenges that infrastructure development projects can sometimes bring, as the government balances long-term benefits with the immediate needs and concerns of the local population. The situation calls for a delicate balance between development and the well-being of the community.
