PONDA: Stating that hot-mixing, repair and widening of roads and water supply in the State will be completed soon with help of Central Government, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Sunday informed that the ongoing sewerage work would be ready by 2021. He said sewage treatment plants (STPs) would be set up in all talukas and letters have been sent to MLAs to identify land for STPs.
He was addressing media persons after laying the foundation for the Rs 3 crore 300 mm dia and 5.6-km long water pipeline from Kundaim to Marcaim to solve the water crisis faced by the locals of Aksan, Adan, Tonk, other parts of Marcaim and Kundaim.
The minister said the State government had taken decision to construct sewerage projects. He said the STP work tender would be floated in various parts of Goa only after identifying and acquiring land. For STP projects, 40 per cent funds would be provided by Goa government and the remaining 60 per cent by an agency which will carry out the work under PPP mode. The agency will recover the cost within 15 years, he informed.
The minister further informed that the Central Government had sanctioned Rs 77 crore for Goa under the Jalshakti Mission, which would be utilised for installing new 100 mm dia pipelines in all talukas by replacing the old ones.
He said the Centre had also assured to release Rs 1,500 crore for development of Goa in next four years.
The minister informed that Rs 150 crore have been sanctioned for NH works including road widening, repair and hotmixing. The work order for the same has already been issued.
He said in January the work of road widening and hotmixing from Farmagudi to Old Goa will commence.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured to carry out more works in the State, he said and directed the government officials to complete the ongoing NH works at the earliest. The works include NH Patradevi to Pollem, road widening from Khandepar to Mollem which is expected to be ready by May 2021. Similarly, Zuari Bridge work would be ready by December 2021.
Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said the Rs 3 crore work of laying the 5.5-km long 300 mm dia pipeline from Kundaim reservoir to Marcaim is expected to be ready in six months.
He said the water from Kundaim reservoir would be supplied to the tank at Marcaim and 800 cubic metres of water will be supplied daily to Marcaim locals at various places. Marcaim locals were facing water shortage even during monsoon. The work was pending due to the pandemic.
Kundaim sarpanch Ramu Naik, EE Nivruti Parsekar, PWD officials and panchas of Kundaim and Marcaim Panchayats were present.
