PANJIM: The Old Goa Police busted an online gambling racket at Chimbel and arrested eight persons in connection with the crime.
According to the police, the accused Sikander Pattegoudra, Nasrulla Pattegoudra, Noorulla Zabiulla Shaikh, Hassan Dyamankap, Arbaz, Saikalger, Rajat and Sujay Naik, all from Karnataka, were caught red-handed while accepting bets through online mode on mobile phones in the closed premises on the numerical figures.
During the raid, mobile phones of different makes, calculators, gambling print slips and printers, all worth Rs 90,000, were seized.
A case under section 3 and 4 of GDDP Act (The Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act) 1976 was registered and further investigation was under progress, police added.
