Online training for teachers on NEP

PANJIM: As the State government intends to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the academic year 2021-22, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will hold online training programme for teachers on NEP.

As a part of Online Capacity Building Programme (OCBP), conducted by SCERT in collaboration with Delhi-based Million Sparks Foundation (MSF), the teachers of government and government aided primary, secondary and higher secondary schools will be trained in NEP 2020: Inclusive Education, on February 11 and 22.

The teachers are also provided training in digital proficiency and value based integrated teaching.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has announced to implement the NEP from academic year 2021-22. The NEP approved by the Union Cabinet last year, replaced the 34-year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986.

The State-Level Task force appointed by the government is likely to submit its report on road map for implementation of NEP to government by March end.

The policy has expanded the scope of foundational education, increasing the school-going years from 3 to 18 instead of the prevalent 6 to 14 years. One of the sweeping reforms is the transition from the decades-old 10+2 format to 5+3+3+4 school structure.
