Only Cong-GFP alliance can drive out BJP: Sardesai

Files nominations along with couple of other candidates

PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Thursday said that the Congress-GFP alliance is the only credible, popular and robust political force that can uproot the BJP from Goa.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination as the alliance candidate from Fatorda, Sardesai said that Goenkars will come out united and enthusiastically to vote the alliance to power.

“Goans have decided long ago to save Goa from the ‘Bhrashtachari’ and ‘Balatkari’ Janata party and they see the Congress-GFP alliance as the most effective and determined force to get the job done. The overwhelming support we see on the ground is testimony to that” said Sardesai.

Earlier, Sardesai had filed his nomination papers before the Returning Officer at South Goa Collectorate, accompanied by GFP Vice-President Dilip Prabhudesai and Margao councillor Ravindra Naik. His name was proposed by the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Lyndon Pereira.

The other two GF candidates contesting under the alliance Santosh Kumar Sawant from Mayem and Deepak Kalangutkar from Mandrem, also filed their nominations today.

Mayem Block President Anand Parsekar, Vice-President Virendra Patre and General Secretary Vishal Matondkar and supporters.

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Ramakant Khalap, GPCC Vice-President Babi Bagkar, Mandrem Block President Narayan Redkar, other district office bearers, GFP and Congress workers and supporters were present with Deepak during the filing of his nomination.

“Goan voters are discerning and politically savvy. They realise that there‘re only two kinds of candidates here in Goa; Those who are against BJP and those who say they are against are here only to help the BJP win. Goans will not vote for BJP B-teams”, said Sardesai.

“The Trinamool Congress has spent more time and effort in attacking the opposition and us specifically, than Pramod Sawant and the BJP. What does that tell you? Besides, their political culture of aggression and violence are alien to Goan culture and Goans know that if they are given any leeway, the ‘New Dawn’ they are promising will become ‘Sunset’ for Goa’,” said Sardesai.
