Only key issues must be given utmost precedence: MLA

MAPUSA: In a written letter to Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaute recommended businesses to be transacted in the one-day session to be held on July 27.

Khaute stated that there is a need to understand that only the key issues of the State needs to be given utmost precedence such as the restructuring of the Budget management of the COVID pandemic, revival of economy and inflated electricity bills.

He also stressed upon the need to discuss the environment impact before approving the projects, the Mollen National Park and Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, which are likely to affect the day-to-day functioning of Goa and the Goans.

Khaute stated that these projects have been facing stiff opposition from people across the State and it necessitates immediate action.

Further, the Porvorim MLA recommended that the sensitive issues such as electricity bills, Budget etc which are likely to have strong impact on the day-to-day functioning of Goa and the Goans, should be reserved and to be debated in the lengthier session which is expected to be held in November-December.

“The members of the Assembly, irrespective of their political orientation, need realistic and feasible opportunity to raise, debate and discuss issues that are eating the roots of democracy in the State such as illegal land transfer, quarantine tourism scams, building workers scam, allotment of funds for COVID warriors and etc,” Khaute stated.
