Only medical stores, petrol pumps remain open in Curchorem

CURCHOREM: In view of rising treat of spreading highly contagious Coronavirus, Curchorem remained shut for the second day of ‘Janta Curfew’, on Monday.

All the establishments including private offices, banks, cinema halls, restaurants except medical stores and petrol pumps remained closed throughout the day.

As the government has extended the ‘Janta Curfew’ in the State, Curchorem Merchant Association (CMA) asked its members and other business establishments to strictly follow the instructions given by the government.

Earlier in the morning, some essential commodities store including grocery, vegetable and milk stores remained open till 9 am where some people were seen buying essential goods. Although, the entire market was closed, some people were moving in their private vehicles.

According to Curchorem Health Officer Dr Mohanrao Dessai, the Primary Health Centre was functioned normally with Outpatient Department (OPD) wing open as usual. But in some private hospitals OPD was restricted and the staff were called on rotation basis as per their requirements. 

“We asked our staff to attend their duties on rotation basis and as per their requirements and doctors are available to attended patients in emergency cases,” said a doctor from private hospital.

Meanwhile, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar informed the general public that vegetables and fruits would be available strictly only in the GSUDA market between 6 am and 11 am and asked only one member from their house to pick their required essential food items including medicines. 

“Please cooperate with the authorities and do not visit the market unnecessary after 11 am, till further orders as we are trying our level best to serve you all better,” requested Hodarkar.
