PANJIM: Goa Police have given a clean chit to terror suspect Sameer Sardana in the multiple passport issue. Inspector General of Police V Renganathan told reporters that Sardana was currently using only one passport and it was the only passport that was valid.
“Only one passport is valid and other four were cancelled. We made a detailed inquiry in the matter and verified all the passports,” Renganathan said.
Renganathan also said that the five mobile connections availed by Sameer, the SIM cards were purchased from outside the country, but not from Pakistan. He said that of the five just two SIM cards were working at the time of his arrest. “We are tightening some few loose ends at present. We need to clear all suspense,” he said.
Sardana, son of a retired army officer from Dehradun, was arrested by Railway Police on February 1, for moving suspiciously at Vasco Railway Station.
Goa ATS and IB is currently probing his links with any terrorist organisation and crosschecking facts which were revealed from his laptop. NIA has already interrogated Sardana for three consecutive days and the team left Goa with no clue.
