Opa WTP starts operation partially

PANJIM: The Opa Water Treatment Plant which was inoperative after getting submerged in water due to the flooding that occurred on Friday, partially started operations, on Saturday. 

The 40 MLD pipeline supplying water to the constituencies of Panjim, Taleigao, St Cruz, St Andre was commissioned on Saturday with the help of two motors, as per PWD. 

However, the repair work of 7 other motors which are used to pump water for the 55 MLD pipeline is underway and is likely to be commissioned soon.  

Due to this, water supply to the constituencies of Ponda, Marcaim, Priol, Cumbarjua and Shiroda will continue to be affected. The work is likely to be completed by Sunday evening following which water supply will be restored. 

Meanwhile, the PWD has made arrangements for supplying tanker water to these constituencies and citizens have been asked to call on 0832-2312081 to receive water through tankers.
