MAPUSA: The streetlight poles from Saligao Circle till Church are posing danger to the school going children as the switch boxes of some poles are left open and live wires are hanging out.
The streetlight poles erected on both side of the road on this stretch have open switch boxes were live wires are hanging out and since this is a beautified area with footpath, families with their children come for walk, which can pose danger to the pedestrians, especially the school going children.
There is also a Government Primary School located close to the circle and leaving the live wires hanging out may pose serious threat to the school children who have the habit of holding the poles while playing.
A local said, “Kids have the habit of holding the poles and playing with it and if they come in touch with the live wire by any chance it can cause serious trouble. GTDC has beautified the area and left. But now nobody is accountable to look after its maintenance work, which is putting the life of people in danger.”
