Operation Black Cocaine: Goa’s black drug trade further exposed

NCB’s 3-day operation hailed as a major international drug syndicate, with footprints in Goa revealed; Latin America, Africa and Goa were part of a drug chain of death and destruction; Brazil to Goa trip with treated cocaine ended at Mumbai with the Bolivian carrier arrested

PANJIM The Narcotic control bureau Mumbai airport operation has, in the words of the NCBs Zonal director Mumbai Amit Ghawate, dealt a body blow to one of the major international drug syndicates, with tentacles in Latin America (Brazil/ Bolivia) Africa, and Goa

The NCB Mumbai had pieced together its entire operations in detail which highlights the well-planned transportation, and delivery system of drugs established by a cartel whose members are across the globe.

These are details of the operation

 1 The NCB had “credible inputs” a South American would be arriving at Mumbai with a consignment of drugs which would be further passed around Mumbai and nearby states, mainly Goa

a Bolivian lady was identified to be travelling from Brazil to Goa with layovers at Addis Ababa and Mumbai.

2 Accordingly, the NCB-Mumbai officials proceeded to the Mumbai Airport and a discreet surveillance perimeter was set up to physically identify the Bolivian lady. On September 26 shortly, after the flight landed, the said lady who was moving around to board the connecting flight to Goa, was identified thereafter, she was questioned in a routine manner about her purpose of visit and the contents in her luggage to which she could not give a satisfactory reply.

 3 Consequently, a thorough search of her luggage led to the discovery of false cavities wherein 12 packets tightly packed were recovered. Upon checking the packets, black coloured substance was found. Upon questioning the lady she confessed that the material is Black Cocaine which weighed a total of 3.2 kgs. She confessed that she was ought to deliver the said consignment to a foreigner receiver in Goa. 

WHEN NCB TURNED TO GOA

4 NCB then swung into action to zero in on the receiver of the consignment in Goa. Intensive follow-up activities and analysis led to the identification of the receiver and a trap was laid out in a hotel in Goa and a Nigerian person was apprehended. The information revealed by the Bolivian lady corroborated with the details of the apprehended Nigerian.

5 The Nigerian confessed to being part of the international drug syndicate. He is a drug trafficker who was staying in Goa and supplying drugs to various peddlers in multiple states.
