Opinion Poll Day observed in Merces

PANJIM: The 47th anniversary of the Opinion Poll held on January 16 at Merces, paid glowing tributes to the Father of Opinion Poll, Joao Hugo Eduardo de Sequeira popularly known as Dr Jack de Sequeira.

PANJIM: The 47th anniversary of the Opinion Poll held on January 16 at Merces, paid glowing tributes to the Father of Opinion Poll, Joao Hugo Eduardo de Sequeira popularly known as Dr Jack de Sequeira. 
The musical show was organized by Konkani Kala Kendr (KKK), Merces, in association with Art & Culture Department. Mathew D’Souza Treasurer of Konkani Kala Kendr welcomed the audience and the guests, Evaristo Fernandes garlanded the portrait of Sequeira and one minute silence was observed. KKK felicitated two personalities ~ 83-year-old Gonsalo Lourenco from Cujira, St Cruz and 88-year-old Bertha Rego e Fernandes from Bhutem Bhat, Merces. Both had actively participated in the Opinion Poll campaign.  Chief Guest Fr Pratap Naik expressed his agony that most Goans were meeting out step motherly treatment to Romi Konkani, their mother tongue. PI Wilson D’Souza was the guest of honour. 
Lourenco spoke about Dr Jack de Sequeira’s contribution and his own role and Rego Fernandes recalled that how they were kept in jail without food and how late Joao of Merces provided them food.
