Oppn Leader dares CM for a debate on unemployment, lawlessness plaguing Goa

Yuri pooh-poohs CM for the BJP government’s failure to protect Goa’s identity; alleges that the crime graph in the State was soaring

MARGAO: Stating that Lok Shakti (People’s Power) is with Congress and INDIA bloc, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday challenged the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for debate on unemployment, corruption, destruction to environment, collapse of law and order and financial mismanagement.

Reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister challenging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for debate with him, Leader of Opposition slammed the CM for the BJP government’s failure to protect Goa’s identity. “I dare the CM for a debate on the rising unemployment in Goa. Corruption is at its peak with cabinet ministers and BJP MLAs levelling allegations of corruption against each other. Destruction of the environment is at its peak with massive land conversions and projects being proposed on green covers,” claimed Yuri.

He alleged that there is complete collapse of law and order in the State, the crime graph was soaring and murders were on the rise.

Yuri claimed that bodies are moved out of Goa without the knowledge of law enforcement agencies and sought an explanation from the Chief Minister who apparently holds the Home portfolio to shed light on mysterious death of Siddhi Naik?

“There is financial mismanagement in the State as the BJP government is obsessed with event management. Liability of the State has touched almost Rs 36,000 crore and the BJP government has pushed Goa into bankruptcy,” he alleged.

He accused the Chief Minister of failing to seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an all-party delegation to discuss the Mhadei issue and asked, “Why did the BJP government fail to withdraw DPR of Kalsa Bhandura project?”
