PANJIM: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Thursday said that the government which has failed to provide oxygen to give life to the patients and arrange decent farewell to dead has no right to continue in power even for a minute.
Stating that the entire country is in shock waves with reports coming from all across the country of COVID-19 patients dying of non availability of oxygen, Kamat alleged that the BJP government has completely failed to provide basic fundamental “Right to life” to the citizens of India. The government has no sensitivity to give decent farewell to those who die due to COVID-19 pandemic. BJP has no moral right to continue in power even for a minute, he added.

Kamat said that one of the observations made by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday completely exposes the pro-crony capitalist agenda of BJP. Delhi High Court told the Government of India, “You are concerned with industries while people die. An emergency of such a nature that means human lives don’t matter for the government.” People are gasping and the insensitive BJP government at the Centre is busy in rhetorics. As the government has failed miserably, the President of India must intervene and immediately constitute an empowered committee to handle the crisis, he demanded
“After Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s letter to the Prime Minister urging him to declare an action plan, I had urged the Prime Minister on March 23 to form a task force with experts from civil Society and army to handle COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the BJP government preferred to celebrate with ‘taali bajav, thaali bajav, diya jalav’ events,” said Kamat.
“The BJP government did not take cognisance of the valuable suggestions made repeatedly by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi. Just four days back Union Health Minister tried to mock former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on his letter to the Prime Minister with most valuable suggestions and advice. This government had other preferences of organising mega events for self glorification.”
“It is most unfortunate that the relatives are made to wait for hours to cremate bodies of their loved ones due to government apathy. This government has completely lost morality,” Kamat said.
