PANJIM: The seven opposition MLAs have decided to put up a united fight against the BJP led government on the floor of the House during the upcoming monsoon session, beginning from July 18, 2023.
The opposition, comprising three Congress MLAs, two from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and one each of Goa Forward Party and Goa Revolutionary Party, on Tuesday held a meeting to chalk out strategy for the session, which will go on till August 10.
The opposition has decided to grill the government on the issues such as Mhadei river water diversion, pathetic Smart City works leading to flooding, unemployment, administrative and financial crisis, corruption, delay in release of social welfare benefits and mining resumption amongst others.
Speaking to media persons post meeting, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that all the seven MLAs from the opposition benches will work on a joint strategy on the floor of the House.
“It is in the interest of Goa that all the seven MLAs from the Opposition should work unitedly on the floor of the House. United Opposition is the flavour of the season,” Alemao said.
He said that the Opposition members have tabled several questions, some of them clubbed with each other, to expose the State government on the floor of the House.
“In the House we will raise true Goan issues and expose the government and its wrong doing. We will oppose what is not in the interest of Goa and its people,” Alemao said.
