The opposition Bharatiya Jamata Party stalled the proceedings of the house for yet another time over the government’s reluctance to hand over the police-politicians-drug nexus case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
This was the fourth time the business in the assembly was disrupted by the Opposition over the demand for CBI probe in the Police-politician-drug nexus case.
Opposition MLAs disrupted assembly proceedings crying ‘Shame, shame’ and shouting slogans “Ek…do..ek do…Congress ko fek do.”
Earlier, the BJP as well as the ruling legislators – Dayanand Narvekar, Agnelo Fernandes and Mickky Pacheco – strongly criticized the police role in the case.
As soon as the Chief Minister Digambar Kamat was on his feet to reply to the points made by the legislators, opposition leader Manohar Parrikar said that the chief minister should directly come to the point and state whether the case would be handed over to the CBI or not?
“You respond to our main demand and that is the police-politician-drug nexus case,” Parrikar said.
“We will withdraw all our cut motion if the CM comes directly comes to the point,” he said adding “…this would be the first time the opposition has withdrawn the cut motions.”
“You tell us are you ready for CBI inquiry or not, otherwise we are not listening,” Parrikar stated before continuing “It is not fair to the people of the State that such an important case is being handled in this manner.”
However, Kamat did not budge from his stance and did not give any assurance on the issue.
Following this, the BJP legislators rushed towards the Speaker Paratpsing Rane creating pandemonium in the house.
Despite the ruckus, the speaker carried on with the business of the house.
The demands for the day were passed amidst noisy scenes.
The politician-police-drug nexus case came to light after Swedish model Lucky farmhouse’s put on Youtube the Video of her Goa based drug peddler boy-friend Yaniv Benaim alias Atala.
Seven policemen were arrested in the case. A senior politicians son’s name has also come up in the case.
