Oppn to corner Govt in Assembly

PANJIM: The Opposition parties will raise various issues including delay to hold general panchayat elections, amendment to Comunidades Code, ownership of Mokaso land in Sattari taluka among others during the month-long monsoon session of Goa Assembly commencing from July 11.  

Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo said that they will demand scrapping of three linear projects, to stop handling of coal at Mormugao Port and the issue of Planning, Development Authority (PDAs) and sale of ZACL during the 25-day session.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will meet on Monday morning to chalk out its strategy and floor coordination during the Assembly session. The opposition will support the government in bringing land ownership related amendments, he said.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition Sankalp Amonkar said that the government may try to curtail the Assembly citing panchayat elections or may attempt to postpone panchayat polls by compelling people to approach the Court over reservation issue. He said that the opposition will expose the failures of government at all levels during the session.
