VASCO: The Opposition against shifting of casinos to Chicalim bay has been growing by the day in Mormugao. Village groups in Mormugao are uniting and creating a mass support base in case the government plans to shift the casinos.
The Chicalim Villagers Action Committee (CVAC), a villagers’ group from Chicalim, which has been campaigning for the protection of Chicalim bay because of its rich marine bio-diversity and has also opposed a proposal of shifting of casinos into Chicalim bay has decided to hold a public meeting on July 17(Sunday) at Santa Cruz Chapel Ground, Matvem Dabolim.
“It is a well-known fact that casinos are a menace to Goa and also a major polluter of Mandovi River.”
