Oppostion slams PM Modi for his remarks

PANJIM: The Opposition parties on Thrusday evening slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks at the public meeting at Mapusa. Congress demanded that the Prime Minister refresh his memory and read history properly before making statements.

Congress general secretary Sunil Kawthankar said it was Congress and the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru under whose leadership Goa was liberated, Congress gave Opinion Poll and gave Statehood to Goa. “What did BJP give to us except false promises?” he asked.

Kawthankar said that since Modi had nothing to showcase about his own government or that of his local BJP government, he is indulging in a false narrative and propaganda.

Reacting to Modi’s statement on Congress Mukt Bharat, Kawthankar demanded that Modi should introspect and see the condition of his own party. Today BJP has 90 per cent former Congress leaders which shows BJP failed to create leaders and people rejected their original leaders and there is no cadre that BJP claims.

“Whether Narendra Modi comes or Amit Shah comes we will form the next government in the State as people of Goa have decided to vote decisively and give a clear mandate to the Congress so much so that BJP will not cross single digits and won’t be in any position to even think of manipulating the people’s mandate.”

Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) State vice president Rajendra Kakodkar said, “Having known Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allergies, his statement does not surprise anyone.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State convenor Rahul Mhambre said that for last 10 years the BJP in Goa brought Rs 20,00 crore debt and the prime minister should tell his BJP leaders in Goa to focus on giving governance which they had failed in mining and tourism front.

Mhambre said, “People of Goa are more worried of misgovernance and corruption by the BJP and are not interested in Modi’s rhetoric. People of Goa are progressive and they look forward for good governance, which only the AAP can provide with its track record.”
