PANJIM: The Special Court, Panjim, on Thursday heard arguments in the anticipatory bail plea filed by former Deputy Inspector General of Police Vimal Anand Gupta (IPS) and reserved the order to March 13.
Gupta submitted in court that Anti-Corruption Branch that is investigating the case after registering the FIR has not conducted a fact finding inquiry before registering the FIR. His counsel further questioned where is the evidence of a bribe. ACB contended that Gupta is required for thorough interrogation.
Following directions from the government, ACB had booked Gupta, LPSI Devyani Naik, her husband and Police Constable Chetan Morajkar. All three are already out on anticipatory while a petition for quashing the FIR is pending before the High Court.
