PANJIM: The Appropriate Authority under the Health Ministry has paved the way to grant permission to Manipal Hospital to establish an organ transplant unit at its premises in Dona Paula.
However, amidst allegations of a scam, Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane has asked the minutes of the meeting of the Appropriate Authority to be kept in abeyance.
According to sources, the Appropriate Authority formed by the government to scrutinize the application and the infrastructure to recommend granting of permission, inspected the Manipal Hospital on Thursday and Friday and held a meeting at the hospital premises. Sources said the seemed to have responded positively, however, the finality of the process would be completed only after the Health Secretary would recommend to grant permission.
