Orgao dy sarpanch elected

Francis Inacio Lobo was on Friday elected deputy sarpanch of the nine-member Tiverem-Orgao panchayat.
Returning Officer K P Naik from Block Development Office Ponda conducted the proceedings to elect the new deputy sarpanch during an election held in the panchayat premises.
Lobo was declared elected after he secured five votes, while his opponent Devendra Naik secured three votes.
Newly elected Deputy Sarpanch Lobo was supported by Sarpanch Sanket Amonkar, Panchas Umesh Turi, Sonia Fadte and S Mankar, while Devendra Naik was supported by Panchas Ashok Govekar and Babita Gaonkar.
Incidentally, Lobo is the first Catholic panch member in the nine-member Tiverem Orgao panchayat to be elected as the deputy sarpanch. It may be recalled that the deputy sarpanch’s post had fallen vacant after Gokuldas Naik was elected to the North Goa Zilla Panchayat seat from Tiverem.
