VASCO: A job-seeking girl from Orissa was raped by a man, who had assured her employment in one of the industries at IDC Verna on Friday morning.
After the horrific incident, the victim lodged a complaint with Verna police, who after a brief and immediate search arrested the accused.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she was lured into a factory at IDC Verna on the pretext of offering her a job there. Someone gave her the phone number of the accused Vijay Bag (25), also a native of Orissa and working at a unit in IDC Verna as a supervisor, to contact him for a job.
When she contacted the accused, he instructed her to come to the main entrance gate of Verna IDC on Friday morning. And when she reached at the spot, the accused took her on his motorcycle to an isolated place inside Verna IDC and raped her.
“Later, the accused person dropped her near a bus stop and handed over her a cheque of Rs 6000 with an assurance that he would provide her job soon,” Police Inspector Uday Parab told Herald.
The accused has been arrested under Section 376 of IPC.
