MARGAO: The PWD Executive Engineer assured residents of Orlim on Wednesday that he, along with the Assistant Engineer would visit the village and inspect the road that has not been asphalted for the past five years.
Earlier, residents of Orlim presented a memorandum to the engineer, pointing that while earlier the road used to be maintained with regular asphalting whenever need arose, for the past five years no work had been done on the road.
They also pointed out that there have been many accidents on the road due to its bad condition and even repairs have been stopped since May 2017.
Ironically, the tender to repair the road was passed in 2016 and work had started in May, 2017, but was stopped due to a temporary injunction, which was vacated in September 2017 when the PWD had assured to complete the work by December 2017. However, it was not done.
The villagers also demanded to know where the Rs 25 crore, sanctioned by the chief minister to the constituency, as claimed by MLA Churchill Alemao, had gone.
