MARGAO: Will the authorities concerned initiate action against this commercial complex housed in the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) market complex for conversion of passages and areas earmarked for lifts for commercial uses?
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who also holds the Town and Country Planning portfolio, has replied on the floor of the House that some passages in Osia commercial complex at the SGPDA complex have been converted for commercial uses.
And, the Chief Minister went on to reply to a stared Assembly question by Fatorda MLA and SGPDA member Vijai Sardessai that verification on site has revealed that only one lift in-between block D & E has not been installed and the area earmarked for life has been converted into lobby/shop/office premises on different floors. Parrikar was replying to a question whether the common facilities such as lifts etc as provided in the approved plans of the commercial complex have been converted to any other use.
That’s not all. The Chief Minister replied in the negative when asked whether permission has been obtained by the builder for any change in use of passages/corridors of the building. And, Parrikar again replied in the negative when asked whether permission has been obtained for construction of compound wall around the buildings in the Osia Commercial complex.
Incidentally, when the Chief Minister was asked to give details on the action taken against the alleged unauthorized development carried by the developer, he replied saying that a show cause notice dated November 23, 2012 was issued to the developer.
Incidentally, it’s exactly four months since the SGPDA had issued show cause notice to the developer, but action has not been forthcoming till date. When Herald contacted SGPDA member Secretary Rajesh Naik on the matter, he said the PDA has received reply from the developer, which is under scrutiny. “The builder has submitted a copy of the approved plan, but has not attached any revised plans to effect the changes. We are seeking more details from the builder on conversion of the passages and corridors for commercial use”, Naik said, adding that the PDA is initiating action to take the matter to its logical conclusion.
