Outgoing SGDH Nodal officer appeals people to stay vaccinated

MARGAO: Dr. Rajesh Patil on Thursday appealed to the citizens that every citizen needs to be vaccinated in order to face the expected third wave of COVID anytime, as he was relieved from the responsibilities of South Goa District Hospital as a Nodal Officer. 

South Goa District Hospital on Thursday accorded a warm farewell to the Dr. Rajesh Patil who served with dedication and zeal for the past ten months when there was a rise in COVID cases in Goa. 

There were hundreds of doctors and nurses under his supervision at the District Hospital. 

Speaking to the media he said people need to be vaccinated before the surge of the third wave of COVID. “As a preventive measure, the second dose is also important because it will give us protection. One thing we can confirm is that there will be less impact on our lungs if we are vaccinated. Hence, I request all the people to take a dose of the vaccine at the earliest. Nobody knows and can anticipate in what way the third wave will come”, he stated. 

Dr. Patil also informed that citizens should take benefit of the facilities available in the South Goa district hospital. “Hospital has a smooth supply of oxygen facility, besides, anti-viral medicines, anti-biotic,” he said.

He said that the district hospital has performed surgeries on nearly a hundred COVID positive patients.
