PONDA: PWD and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar on Sunday said the government plans to use services of outstation doctors on contract basis to tackle the shortage felt in various government-run hospitals.
Dhavlikar was speaking at a function organised by the district administration to commemorate Republic Day at Kranti-Maidan, Ponda.
“Our government is committed to all-round development and people need to understand some problems that the government is facing. In Ponda, we have the Ponda Sub District Hospital, but the over 220-bedded hospital cannot be made fully operational due to shortage of doctors,” said Dhavlikar.
“It is the similar case with other government-run hospitals in the State and as such the government is planning to appoint doctors from other states on contract basis. .
Earlier, Dhavlikar paid homage at the martyr memorial, unfurled the tri-colour and inspected the guard of honour.
Various developmental works are in the pipeline for Ponda city. Beautification of Kranti Maidan will be undertaken shortly including the much awaited Ponda city traffic master plan,” informed Dhavlikar.“At Opa, the work for additional 25 MLD plant is already in progress and work for another 25 MLD plant will be undertaken at government’s new facility at Ganje-Usgao. The Rs 250 crore work for four-laning of two National Highway bypasses at Ponda and the bridge at Khandepar will be taken up this year,” he said.
