Over 400 students to take part in Yoga Day

The day will be celebrated also across 45 primary health centres and across all 11 talukas

PANJIM: Over 400 students will participate in the 8th International Day of Yoga, to be celebrated on Tuesday. The students along with 20 teachers will participate in the State-level function to be held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao Plateau. 

The Archaeological Survey of India-protected Se Cathedral Church premises and the Aguada Fort in Goa are among 75 cultural heritage locations under the ASI pan-India that will host the event. 

Director of Education Shailesh Zingde said that apart from these 400 students, all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools are directed to observe the Yoga Day in their respective institutions and submit a compliance report. 

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will lead the State level function. 

Union Minister of State for Tourism, Ports and Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik will lead the event at Old Goa and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Prahlad Patel has been appointed to chair the event at Fort Aguada.
