Over 50 industrial employees donate plasma

VASCO: Over 50 industrial employees voluntarily donated their plasma to benefit the patients combating against COVID-19 infection and fighting for their lives. 

Speaking to this daily, Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) President Damodar Kochkar said that the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took note of this noble step and extended his greetings to the employees on social media handle, which was very encouraging.

“Several employees of various industries who have recovered from the COVID infection chose not to remain as a ‘survivor’ but went ahead to become ‘saviours’ to others, who are combating against COVID infection for their survival by donating their plasma,” he added.

He further stated, “It was very much an encouragement for the industrial employees after seeing that the Health Minister extended his greetings on his social media handle to the employees of various companies such as Unichem Labs, Glenmark Pharma, Tulip Diagnostics, Marksans Pharma, and Lupin Ltd, who had volunteered to donate their plasma.”

He also opined that volunteering by the industrial employees for plasma donation will encourage others to come forward and donate plasma which could be a life saving for many who desperately need it for their survival. 

When asked more about the role of the industries in fighting against COVID, Kochkar mentioned that the industries from the beginning of the pandemic have been actively involved in collaborating and supporting the government in the fight against COVID by providing ration to the migrants, extending monetary support by donating to CM’s COVID Fund, providing materials and equipment for the government COVID Care Centres and frontline warriors, starting back the industries in record time, getting employees back to work from the neighbouring States. Starting of collection and testing facility for RT-PCR test and starting of the 140-bed COVID Care Centre for industries’ employees. 

Kochkar said that when the government has been appealing the public to support in their fight against COVID by way of plasma donation, most of the industries struggling to restart their full fledged production capacity came forward to support.
