MAPUSA: The owners of the property rubbished allegation of the locals in Bairo Alto, Assagao of them cutting off 70 fruit-bearing trees.
The owners said, “I do not own the 70 fruit bearing trees in my property, nor there are more than 70 fruit bearing trees marked for cutting. I have sought permission, as per the prescribed procedure of Goa Forest Department, to cut 16 trees for domestic purpose, which include only one mango tree and that does not bear fruits anymore. Also marking of trees does not in any way indicate the final decision from the forest department”, said the owner.
Ownerers clarified that the land is not sold to anybody and is completely owned by them. “There is no commercial project planned in the property and even if it is done, it will be within framework of the law. The allegations made are completely false while the survey number mentioned does not exist”, said owners.
The owners further pointed out whether the residents who raised voice, share same sentiments with respect to the already existing multiple commercial projects in Assagao. The owners wonder if these people are targeting them with personal vendetta to harass law abiding senior citizens who owns the land.
