MARGAO: Amid shortage of oxygen, on Tuesday an incident of oxygen leakage from a tanker in the process of unloading into the tank has been reported at South Goa District Hospital. The timely intervention by the Fire and Emergency Service team helped avert major tragedy. One person sustained minor injuries during the incident.
As informed by Deputy Collector John Fernandes the incident reported at around 2.50 pm. He also said that there is a minor injury to one of the technicians at the time of operation to stop the leakage.
“The tanker belongs to Govind Poi Oxygen Factory of Arlem had arrived at the hospital from Kolhapur with the oxygen. At the time of unloading in into the tank of the hospital the valve gave way to leakage”, said Dy. Collector.
The team of Fire and Emergency Services anchored at the hospital rushed to the site.
“Two more fire tenders were called at the site. The crew began cooling operation around the surrounding area of the Tanker and the situation was under control,” said Nitin Raikar, Deputy Director of Margao Fire and Emergency Service.
The O2 Supply Team from M/s Govind Poi who were on the site helped in arresting the leakage from the main outlet in approximately 30-40 minutes. The duty crew was kept on Standby.
