CUNCOLIM: The Paddi Barcem electricity service centre functions in a small room, making it difficult for the staff to work in a cramped place.
Ten staff members work from this small room which is also used as a storeroom. With electrical wires and other fixtures dumped around, there is hardly any place for the staff to sit in this congested place, said an employee on condition of anonymity.
He also stated that the ‘office’ doesn’t even have a toilet and those on night duty have no other option, but to answer nature’s call out in the open.
The power department workers here are deployed in remote hilly areas and have no place to rest once they come back from duty. Locals say that the service centre is worse than a cow shed and have demanded that the office be shifted to a better place with basic amenities.
