‘Padmaavat’ finally hits Inox screens in Goa

The first show witnesses a huge crowd as bookings opened a day prior to confirming the screening on Sunday

PANJIM: The Inox multiplexes in the State finally screened the controversial Bollywood film “Padmaavat” on Sunday amidst police security.
The first show at 9 am witnessed a huge crowd as bookings opened a day prior to confirming the screening on Sunday. While Panjim and Porvorim Inox screened 15 shows each, the Inox: Osia at Margao screened 24 shows.
A staff at the booking counter at Panjim Inox confirmed that counter reservation and online bookings had begun from Saturday. “The bookings were full on Sunday. We will continue the screenings in the coming days too,” said a lady staff.
Although the Goa Police’s intelligence inputs did not indicate at law and order problems on screening the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, the respective police stations deployed armed security personnel outside the multiplexes.
“Police are deployed at all cinema halls and multiplexes where the film is being shown, until further orders,” said an IPS officer.
Meanwhile, the single theatres have been screening the movie since its country-wide release on January 25.
