Paint speed breakers, to reduce accidents: MLA

MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo has criticised the condition of speed breakers across the State and pointed out that many of them are barely visible to commuters, which in turn lead to accidents.
In a letter addressed to PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, the Congress MLA has asked the department to ensure that all the speed breakers across the State are painted immediately.
He also called for placing of signboards near the speed breakers, so that the commuters can be alerted about the same.
He gave the examples how the commuters normally slow down before a speed breaker, but in the case of those which are not painted and in the absence of any signboard, the commuters have to endure a bumpy ride when they go over the speed breakers.
He added that this has even led to several accidents, especially at night.  He said it was important that such works are completed sooner than later to reduce the number of accidents.
