Painting Police corrupt: Cong demands apology from Dy CM

MARGAO: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday demanded immediate apology from Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar to the Police Department for defaming and disparaging the whole of Police Department to be corrupt.

GPCC Spokesperson Vithu Morajkar said, “It had been witnessed that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has no control over his own ministers. It is a very shameful sight of seeing the Police Department considered being unscrupulous. The reason behind this could possibly be Babu, who must be getting some share of corrupt practices.”

“Blaming whole Police Department was very erroneous. As per Civil Service (conduct) Rules 1964 police cannot talk against government nor they can form or participate in any agitation against government and Babu is taking advantage of this. It is a pitiful scene that in this pandemic of COVID-19 Goa Police is shown corrupt and wrapped in a blanket of allegations,” criticised GPCC.

Vithu said, “We have seen Goa Police risking themselves against COVID-19 and helping people to get through their daily survival. Allegations seem so fragile right from drugs to prostitution rackets being common in Goa.”

He said that the miserable act of the minister has exposed the BJP government. The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee says that the Congress leaders are not corrupt and challenges Chief Minister to establish a list showing corrupt Congress leaders. As being so honest we don’t fear even to get into police custody.

“Instead of promoting the Police Inspectors of Goa in their rendered service of 27 years had to face allegations by their own government. No efforts were taken by the government to promote Home Guards. What will be the credibility of our Goa Police force in front of other States and also what message it will give at international level,” mentioned Vithu.

“The whole year Police Department work with authenticity, evacuation and with devotion towards the Goa State that has been gone under drain because of this discounted and egotism type of statement,” he said.

“The Congress Party has demanded unconditional apology to the Police Department from the Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar. If this is not accepted then Goa Pradesh Congress Committee will be on road in favour of police once the lockdown is over.”
