PERNEM: The preliminary report of a Palyem resident, working for Kadamba Transport Corporation, came positive on Tuesday, causing panic among the residents. Palyem sarpanch Uday Gawandi informed that the village will remain under total lockdown for the next five days. According to available information, on Tuesday afternoon the resident was taken to North District Hospital, Mapusa in a 108 ambulance. Following the report of the resident testing positive for COVID-19, there was panic among Palyem residents.
Palyem sarpanch Gawandi said, “People are scared. Some have shut shops as soon as they came to know about this case. However as precautionary measure, the whole village will remain under total lockdown for the next 5 days”.
It is learnt that the person visited his in-laws at Bhutwadi-Virnoda, which also led to the Virnoda locals isolating themselves.
