Panaji’s 161 Bus Stops Notified Under Ongoing Smart City Mission Initiative for EV Bus Services

The North Goa District Magistrate has notified 161 bus stops under the ongoing Smart City Mission EV Bus Services initiative spearheaded by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. (IPSCDL). This initiative, proposed by the Managing Director of Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. (KTCL) in conjunction with the Public Works Department (PWD), aims to revolutionize public transportation in the region.

The notification issued by the DM North Goa directs KTCL and PWD to take necessary steps to erect signboards marking these designated bus stops at identified locations across the city. This decision aligns with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and comes following recommendations from the Dy. Supdt. Of Police, Traffic (North).

Under the leadership of IPSCDL and KTCL, this project seeks to enhance accessibility and streamline bus operations. By establishing dedicated bus stop locations, the initiative aims to improve the overall efficiency of the transportation network while providing a seamless experience for residents and visitors alike.

As part of the execution process, the notification outlines various conditions, including obtaining permission from private landowners for the erection of bus shelters. Moreover, it emphasizes the exclusive use of designated bus stops for passenger boarding and alighting, along with adherence to safety guidelines during the construction of bus shelters.

The designated bus stops are strategically placed along seven identified routes covering areas such as Panaji, Taligao, Bambolim, and St. Cruz. These routes are designed to cater to the commuting needs of the populace, ensuring widespread connectivity across the region.

A key official from Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. expressed, “Citizen-centric infrastructure development lies at the heart of our vision for Panaji’s transformation into a Smart City. The erection of 161 bus stops in Tiswadi Taluka marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation and foster sustainable urban mobility.”
